Typical concrete has a great number of pores, voids and capillary paths through which water is transported.  It´s through these openings that water can enter and cause damage making waterproofing necessary.  When Controll Innerseal is applied to concrete, the cracks, pores and voids are plugged, and as a result, the concrete will gradually dry out.




Let´s take a closer look at how Controll Innerseal works.   Water flows through capillary paths, micro cracks and pores in the concrete.  These pores have a width between 0.1 and 0.4 mms in diameter.  When applied, the chemicals  within Controll Innerseal  are absorbed into the concrete  and create a catalytic reaction that causes long, narrow crystals to form, which subsequently fill the pores, capillary paths and micro cracks.





The crystal formation that occurs results in the blocking of pathways  and the concrete becomes  waterproof.   Controll Innerseal has been designed to penetrate deeply and become an integral part of the concrete  and is equally effective against both positive or negative hydrostatic pressure.






The sodium silicate components within Controll Innerseal react with the calcium hydroxide present in all concrete and as a result forms calcium silicate hydrate which fills the small pores and micro cracks to seal the concrete internally.

Air is still permitted to pass through the crystal formations avoiding water vapour to build up inside the concrete.



If new cracks appear then any water that does pass will react with dormant Controll Innerseal chemicals causing new crystals to form and grow and again to fill the pores and cracks to make the concrete waterproof.


As well as protecting against  water penetration and resulting damage, Controll Innerseal protects concrete against :

- Acid rain and other chemicals
- Seawater
- Industrial waste and corrosive groundwater

and improves the frost resistance and compressive strength of the concrete
